In Las Vegas, the Consumer Electronics Show was held, where they showed a lot of strange concepts and theoretical innovations that promise to turn the world around: socks for diabetics, a refrigerator from Samsung with a pleasant name Family Hub, and Nissan even brought the renewed electric car Leaf, which is the same, as old Leaf, but a little better.
I collected a number of things that attracted my attention. I want to note that each of them received the official award of CES 2018 in one or another category.

Ockel produces funny mini-computers. Startup received an award in the category “Computers and Components”.
In fact, this tablet with an ideal set of ports and connectors. Like any self-respecting start-up, Ockel sells its technical innovation on the crowdfunding site. And since the company has a whole line of such mini-computers, we can say that the idea caught the people.
Let me introduce you, Wallet Card – the first bank card on batteries.
The main idea is that many bank cards can be put on this Wallet Card, thus freeing up the place in the wallet. The card has a display and buttons, with which you can just select the desired card. The display will show the card number, date and CVV code.
The card is stronger than ordinary bank cards, it bends, and it is not afraid of water (it can be washed in a washing machine).
Soon enough everyone will have one carrier for which bank cards, loyalty programs, travel cards and so on will be recorded.
Logitech has released a keyboard that is likely to appeal to designers and illustrators. Outwardly, this is an absolutely ordinary keyboard, perhaps a little more stylish than yours. In the left corner is an input dial, which allows you to point out colors, scale, and to navigate through the document.
Light L16 Camera
The L16 camera requires an ecstatic sigh, even if you are absolutely indifferent to photographic equipment.
Firstly, there are as many as 16 lenses, and secondly, the device weighs almost half a kilogram (435 grams) and resembles the base Kindle from Amazon (165 x 84.5 x 24.05 mm) in size.
The L16 camera is more about advanced photo processing algorithms than hardware and lenses. When shooting 10 of 16 lenses make a photo, but with a different focal length (from 28 to 150 mm), and the software already processes and collects all photos in one photo of increased clarity and resolution.
The manufacturer says about the final resolution of the combined photo at 52 MP.
The camera has only built-in 256 GB of memory, flash drives are not supported. There is no connector for an external flash. But there is a 5-inch touchscreen and autofocus on the touch.
Here’s an example of a photo.
In October 2017 Google demonstrated a new generation of Google Pixel Buds headphones. In addition to the main function – playing music, headphones in tandem with the phone could translate your speech into other languages.
Mars headphones promise a new level, a live communication with instant translation. Each one inserts into his ear the headset, and then you can just talk, your interlocutor will hear a translation in his earpiece.
English, Spanish, Korean, and most importantly, Chinese languages are already supported.
And, of course, headphones know how to play music, they even have the function of noise reduction. The manufacturer promises about 3 hours of work.
Ocean-bound Plastics: Breaking cycles
This is not so much an innovation as a caring attitude to nature, because, according to a study on the Scientific American website, about 86 million tons of plastic waste is floating in the ocean. And every year this number increases by another 8 million tons of garbage. Actually, 90% of the debris in the ocean is plastic. At the same time, this is mainly small debris, pieces of plastic do not exceed 5 mm. And this is a serious problem for both the planet and ordinary people because according to statistics, we absorb up to 11,000 plastic debris per year through seafood.
On the one hand, Dell’s contribution is scanty. During the year, the company assembled and reworked, launching the Dell XPS models only 8 tons. By 2025, the manufacturer wants to increase the collection to 80 tons, but it’s still a drop in the ocean. On the other hand, it is an attempt to draw attention to the problem.
